Big Cottonwood Vineyards and Winery
December 2009
              Happy Holidays
Seasons Greetings to one and all!  It is the beginning of December and we wish you and yours a Happy
Holiday season!

First of all, thanks to those of you who supported us in 2008 and those who discovered us in 2009.  We really
appreciate your patronage and hope you will continue to support us in the future.

The 2009 harvest had good moments and bad, but was not as productive as 2008’s.  The harvest in general
was cooler and wetter resulting in later picking overall.  Two of our varietals were hit hard with chemical spray
right at flower set resulting in little harvest yield for either our Seyval or Vignoles.  Other varietals fared better
and we were able to obtain some grapes from other growers to compensate, but it will mean a different year for
us in terms of producing some of your favorite wines. Once again Mom (Mother Nature, not Mom-Betty), shows
us she has the upper hand.   (OK, maybe Mom-Betty has the upper hand too.)

We had lots of fun this year with our Winey Friday events and tried some other fun activities as well.  Yoga in the
Vineyard was a lot of fun and huge success. The New Moon Party didn’t work as well because of timing, but it is
something we will try again this next year.  We also want to thank those of you who visited us at the Elkhorn
Balloon and Wine Festival, the Dodge County Fair and River City Round up.  Special thanks to the Harvest
Maniacs who helped keep us sane through harvest!

On December 13th, we are having a Christmas Open House with goodies and special discounts on any
purchases during our normal tasting room hours of 1-6 pm.  We also are doing up special Holiday baskets and
are open with regular Friday and weekend tasting room hours through New Years weekend.

In January, February and March we will be open by appointment.  (Just give us a call if you want to brave the
elements…we will be happy to update you on weather and road conditions first.)  We will open again in April
with scheduled tasting room hours.  Keep updated on our favorite retail sites through our website.  And most of
all...........…

KEEP ON DRINKING NEBRASKA WINE!
January 1, 2010
Happy New Year !!
We hope that you all survived the holiday festivities with a minimum of discomfort.

We are pleased to announce a new addition to our family of Nebraska wines.  A sparkling wine made from 100% Brianna
grapes.  We were unable to have it ready for release for the 2009 holiday season, but hopefully it will continue to
improve in the bottle and be ready for your next celebration or just enjoyment.

Remember, we offer custom labels on many of our wines.  Just call or email and we can give you the details.  These can
help make a special occasion an even more memorable occasion.

Wishing you and yours a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2010 and beyond !!!

Happy Valentine's Day !

Cuddled up with your special Valentine keeping warm with a glass of Nebraska wine?
Good choice !
As you can see from the pictures on the home page we have had our share of snow this winter.
The Pelican is looking at us very accusingly, as if it was our fault he forgot to head South.
We are open on the weekends for the hardy souls that would like to come out to the winter
wonderland.   But be sure to call first to make sure that I have been able to start the tractor and
clear the luge run we call our lane.  The drifts have been amazing so far this winter.  As our
neighbors up at Silver Hills have said "we don't have roads, we have snow canyons"
Keep warm !
Cheers!
Rick and Deb
